Learning & Growing: The Beginning Workshop in Franklin, TN
This April, I had the incredible opportunity to attend The Beginning Workshop in beautiful Franklin, Tennessee, hosted by the talented Joanna Morris and Morgan Preston. It was a weekend full of inspiration, education, and connection, all centered around one of my greatest passions—photographing newborns and families in a natural, heartfelt way.
The workshop focused on in-home lifestyle newborn photography, which is something I already love offering to my clients across North Atlanta, Woodstock, Roswell, Milton, and surrounding areas. But what stood out to me most was the emphasis on capturing families in their element—not perfectly posed or overly directed, just real, raw, and beautiful moments as they naturally unfold.
One of the in-home sessions we photographed was nothing short of magical. The family wore soft, cream-toned neutrals that added such a peaceful, light-filled warmth to the images. Their home was gorgeous, and filled with love and laughter, and their children were the sweetest—full of personality and joy. It reminded me why I do what I do: to preserve these fleeting moments of connection and love that families will cherish for a lifetime.
In addition to lifestyle photography, the workshop also included a hands-on segment focused on posed newborn sessions using studio lighting. I learned new techniques for gently settling and posing babies that looked comfortable, safe, and beautiful. I’m excited to start incorporating this option into my offerings for clients who prefer a more polished look alongside their lifestyle images.
Education is so important to me. I never want to stop growing in this work, and I’m always seeking out new ways to better serve the families who trust me with their most precious memories. Workshops like this keep me creatively inspired and technically sharp—and they help me bring an even more thoughtful experience to my clients here in North Atlanta.
