Editorial Engagement Session at the Georgia Capitol

As an Atlanta Engagement Photographer, I’m always looking for ways to highlight the unique charm of this city. Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph an engagement session at the Georgia State Capitol, and it turned into one of my favorite shoots to date.

Lindsey and Charlie are getting married in St. Tropez (how incredible is that?), but since Atlanta is the city where they fell in love, it was important to them to commemorate their engagement here.

We met at the Capitol on a warm afternoon, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Photographers are able to shoot there during the day, and the moment we arrived, the sun rays streamed through the windows like a natural spotlight. Between the sweeping architecture and that magical golden light, it created the perfect setting for editorial-style engagement portraits in Atlanta.

After the Capitol, we headed to Atlanta City Hall for a quick stop. The heat kept us from staying too long, but even in just a few minutes, we captured a completely different backdrop and vibe. This combination of architecture, history, and sunlight gave their gallery such variety and sophistication.

And honestly—these two looked like models. They laughed, embraced, and completely trusted the process, which made for images that feel genuine and timeless. While I no longer photograph weddings, I absolutely love when I get an engagement session inquiry in Atlanta. Engagement sessions are a chance to slow down, connect, and create something meaningful before the wedding day.
